The First National Construction Healthcare Captive: Exclusive to ABC Members

Businesses in the construction industry have long grappled with the challenge to access affordable and comprehensive healthcare for themselves and their employees. Rising healthcare costs, limited coverage options and the unique needs of construction professionals have created a significant gap in healthcare services within our industry. Recognizing this issue, we are excited to announce a solution: The Construction Healthcare Alliance. The ABC Insurance Trust has teamed up with industry leading innovators to create the first national healthcare captive designed specifically for ABC members, by ABC members.

At Construction Healthcare Alliance, we understand the unique healthcare needs and challenges faced by contractors. Our mission is to combine the resources of qualified ABC members in drastically reducing the cost associated with their healthcare plans while investing in the improvement of the health and lives of their workers.

Benefits of the Construction Healthcare Alliance:

FOR ABC Members, By ABC Members.

Let’s create a healthier construction workforce together!

  • Experience savings ranging from 15% to 30% within the initial year, accompanied by state-of-the-art cost containment tools that ensure the stability of healthcare expenses in the long run. This enables you to offer your employees a health plan that not only provides enhanced benefits but also comes at a reduced cost.

  • Maintain control over the design of your company’s healthcare plan based on its unique needs along with complete transparency and access to all health plan costs.

  • Team up with fellow ABC members to address the rising cost of healthcare while improving services and care for your employees.

Joining the Construction Healthcare Alliance has been a game-changer for our company. As the first group to join the ABC captive group health plan (CHA) on Jan 1, 2024, we were naturally cautious. After the usual transition bumps, our experience has been nothing short of terrific. Our claim costs have been good and are running about a 50% loss ratio. We have been very satisfied with the customer service our employees are receiving on both the medical and prescription drug side .

While we did encounter some implementation bumps during the first 90 days, they were quickly resolved to our employee’s satisfaction. Transitioning to a Reference Based Pricing (RBP) model isn’t for the faint of heart, but it has been worth every bit of the effort. It’s crucial to stay the course and not give up when faced with initial challenges. I’m incredibly glad we stuck with it, and I would highly recommend others to do the same.
